Fruits

Even the Red Indians treasured the fruits of certain Echinocereus varieties. These fruits are ripe when the thorn fall or can be easily remored. Amongst the so called Strawberry-cactus, the following Echinoereus are well-known:engelmannii, fendleri, coccineus, triglochidiatus and stramineus.

In late summer months, die decoration fruits of the Opuntia are really lovely and last well into autumn.

Thorns are often the decoration of cacti, that is why are an important optical factor by winter-hardy cacti.
